Peace, Happiness, and Struggle in a Difficult World
Speaker: Dr. Bob Sterken
UT Tyler Political Science Professor
Our annual Christmas party and pot luck dinner will be held at the Fellowship this Friday, December 14th beginning at 6:00 PM. We need someone to cook a turkey (the Fellowship is reimbursing the cost – Tracy is doing the ham).
Bring a wrapped (new or used) gift for the Gag Gift Exchange and as many non-perishable food items as you can to be donated to Longview Community Ministries (there’s going to be a prize!).
The Christmas tree is up in the lobby and strung with lights! Now it needs some ornaments. The theme is DIVERSITY. Do you have something you would like to contribute? Something you already have or would like to make? Just bring it and hang it in its perfect spot!
And we are continuing to collect teddy bears and other stuffed animals which will be donated to local women and children’s shelters. Thank you to all who have already generously given. (There is a box in the lobby for the stuffed animal donations.)
December 23rd is going to be a participatory service at our Fellowship. We will be learning about the winter holidays celebrated by different faiths (Hanukkah, winter solstice, Hindu Festival of Light, Christian traditions, Kwanza, etc.) Can you tell us about this tradition? Do you have a story about a personal experience? We would love to hear it!
