The Rest of the Story

The Lessons and Gifts We Receive from

the Stories of the Season

Speaker:  Scott Cooper

————————————————-

There will be a Board Meeting this Sunday, December 9th at 9:00 AM.

The agenda is posted on the UUFL website (https://www.uuflongview.org/).

All members and friends are welcome to attend.

————————————————-

Joanne Farnsworth:

Our annual Christmas party and pot luck dinner will be held at the Fellowship on Friday, December 14th beginning at 6:00 PM.  We need someone to cook a turkey (the Fellowship is reimbursing the cost – Tracy is doing the ham).

Bring a wrapped (new or used) gift for the Gag Gift Exchange and as many non-perishable food items as you can to be donated to Longview Community Ministries (there’s going to be a prize!).

There is a sign-up sheet for the pot luck dinner on the back table in the sanctuary where you can indicate what you will be bringing.  It also lets you see what others are bringing so you can determine what’s needed and, hopefully, we will end up with a delightfully balanced meal.

And we are continuing to collect teddy bears and other stuffed animals which will be donated to local women and children’s shelters.  Thank you to all who have already generously given.  (There is a box in the lobby for the stuffed animal donations.)

The Christmas tree is up in the lobby and strung with lights!  Now it needs some ornaments.  The theme is DIVERSITY.  Do you have something you would like to contribute?  Something you already have or would like to make?  Just bring it and hang it in its perfect spot!

Carol West:

December 23rd is going to be a participatory service at our Fellowship.  We need singers for our “tiny choir.”  Let me know if you would like to sing along!

And we will be learning about the winter holidays celebrated by different faiths (Hanukkah, winter solstice, Hindu Festival of Light, Christian traditions, Kwanza, etc.)  Can you tell us about this tradition?  Do you have a story about a personal experience?  We would love to hear it!
