Increasing Membership
After the talkback session following the service, there will be a brief meeting of the congregation which all are invited, and encouraged, to attend. Please be prepared to share any ideas you might have with the Board regarding ways to encourage others to come share the UUFL experience with us. We are seeking ways to find people who need to be a part of the Fellowship but don’t know it yet!!!
***NEW FEATURE***
NOTE the Change
Jerry King will be hosting the Second Tuesday of the Month Film Series. Instead of May 9, as previously announced, the first of this series will be June 13. The film will be “Why We Fight,” and there will be a discussion following the viewing. Be sure to put this on your calendars for June and plan to come. Bring your friends. ALL are welcome!
*Back Pack Program
The UUFL Board is once again asking members to support the Back Pack Program through the end of 2017, including the summer months. Make your checks to UUFL with Backpack on the memo line or put your cash in a labeled envelope (for tax-deduction credit) or in the labeled jar in the Lobby. Our treasurer will provide a monthly check to J. L. Everhart Elementary, the one nearest to us, in the Longview ISD. This program provides non-perishables for children at the poverty level so that they have food to eat over the weekend.
*Programs
Contact Carol West by email, or write your idea(s) in the binder provided in the lobby.
*Barbara Cavin
Bring any non-perishables to put in the food basket in the lobby. Barbara will take our collection to Longview Community Ministries to help feed the poor and hungry of our community.
*Kylie Murry
Asbury House is collecting Bubbles/Wands for this month to assist with some summer fun. Asbury House is a child development center that provides quality childcare for children of parents that are going back to school but are below the poverty line. The mission is to try to break the cycle of poverty by giving children a quality start to their education.
